Hi Alma Familia,
It’s Leticia and Harry here. We hope you’re doing well and easing into the holiday season. As we write this, we’re enjoying a fresh cup of Alma Coffee while overlooking our coffee farms in Corquín, Copán, Honduras with a few cats and dogs at our feet for extra joy.
This year, we took a big step we’ve dreamed of for years: we moved to Honduras for two months during harvest season. Living here day-to-day means we get to work closely with our farm team, face the real challenges of farm life, and connect even deeper to the roots of the coffee we share with you.
If you’re reading this, it’s because you’ve chosen to be part of our story. You’re not just customers; you’re the reason Alma exists. Because of your support, we’ve been able to do meaningful work, like building a school that provides 40 children with free education every day. Coffee is our vessel, but changing lives is our mission.
Since early 2022, we’ve held prices steady while costs all around us have risen. We’ve absorbed those increases for nearly four years because reliability, transparency, and impact matter deeply to us. But the time has come for us to make adjustments so we can continue to deliver the coffee and the difference you believe in.
For context, U.S. coffee prices are up 40% since 2022 and this is without taking into account the new import tariffs adding further strain. Shipping costs have also steadily increased. A single 12oz bag cost us $5.50 to ship in 2022; today it’s closer to $7.10. We also believe our customer-focused team deserves fair, sustainable wages. Labor costs have risen nearly 40% since 2022.
We want to give you this update with plenty of notice so you can enjoy the current pricing for the next two weeks before pricing changes take effect on 10/20/25. Here's what will change:
- Standard bags will shift from 12oz → 310g to reduce shipping burdens.
- Certain coffees will increase in price to reflect the true cost of sourcing and roasting while maintaining Alma’s quality standards.
- Flat-rate shipping will increase to $5 for orders under $50.
- Free shipping will only apply to orders over $50.
Because we know a price increase is never ideal, we wanted to share a few "pricing hacks" to help keep your Alma ritual affordable. Here are some tips and tricks:
- Join the Coffee Club (online and in-store). Members receive free shipping on every order plus quantity-based discounts including up to 15% off when you order 4+ bags at a time. When we save on shipping, we pass those savings directly on to you. For a weekly 4-bag subscription, you can save over $560 per year simply by subscribing compared to buying bags one at a time.
- If you're local, utilize our Canister Program. Bring in your Alma Coffee canister to the cafe and get free coffee with every refill. Canisters will still be filled to their full sizes (1 lb and 2.5 lbs) so no change there. You will see on average each 1-pound refill saves about $8.36 in coffee value compared to buying a 310g bag, and each 2.5 pound refill saves about $13.13 in coffee value compared to the 2lb bag.
While there are a lot of changes occurring, what won't change is the care and craft we put into every roast. The direct impact at origin, from our farms to classrooms full of children, will not be lost. We will always maintain our deep gratitude for you because none of this would exist without your support.
