"Otoño" (which translates to 'fall' in Spanish) is a limited seasonal roast crafted to keep you warm & caffeinated all fall season—whether that be in the crisp morning air, mid-afternoon breeze, or chilly cold evening. We wanted to offer you a coffee that you can enjoy while you're curled up with a blanket and a good book. As the kids say, "it's giving french press and campfire."

You'll find that this roast is a bit darker than usual and more developed to increase the body and mouthfeel. The tasting notes lend to more baked nuts and fruit with undertones of baking spices.

This is a pre-blend roast meaning we mix the green bean together prior to roasting. As the coffee is from the same altitude and farm, they roast at a relatively consistent degree. Pre-roasting Otoño seems to round out the flavors, making them more harmonious. The alternative would be to roast all 3 components separately before blending, but we feel that would lead to certain flavors standing out too much and potentially overshadowing others.

The label design (hand drawn by our very own Paula Krassa) illustrates the real-time seasonal fall changes happening to our family coffee trees in Honduras: the perfect visual representation of the red, orange, & green coffee cherry maturity process you'll see in the fall season at our family farms!

Suggested Brewing Recipe:

Brew this coffee in a French Press with following recipe:
- Start with 30g of medium coarse ground coffee.
- Brew 480ml of 203 degree water.
- Give it a stir with a spoon once you have added the water. Wait to add the plunger.
- After 5 minutes, add the plunger, but do not plunge. This will agitate the grounds and could bring up the fines that will end up in your cup. Simply use the screen of the plunger to hold back the grinds.
-If you want a heavier and richer cup, go ahead and plunge the French Press. Just know you will get silt and fines in your cup. Some prefer this method as it is a more richer cup from the additional extraction.

The final brew will be at a 1:16 ratio and will be strong. For best results, enjoy this on a foggy fall morning as the leaves are changing and you can begin to see your breath in the air.

Choose Your Best Grind

Understanding Grind Types

Whole Bean

Maximize your coffee experience by grinding your own whole beans. The flexibility of a grinder allows you to grind fresh and specifically for your brewing device. It's one extra step, but trust us, it is so worth it ;)

Best For: All Methods

Regular/Keurig (Ground)

This fine-medium grind is perfect for drip machines, keurigs, or aeropresses. It is the most commonly used size, making it a safe option when gifting coffee to a friend or if you are unsure of what grind type to get.

Best For: Drip Machines, Keurig Machines, Aeropress

Chemex (Ground)

For Chemex enthusiasts, the coffee grind is coarser compared to other pour over options. This grind size is ideal due to thicker Chemex filters, which slow down water during extraction.

Best For: Chemex

Pour Over (Ground)

This medium-coarse grind is ideal for fans of pour overs like the V60. For optimal results, we recommend using with paper filters.

Best For: Pour Overs (Not Chemex)

French Press (Ground)

Perfect for any submersion brewing methods such as the french press or cold brew. This extra coarse grind will be the perfect grind for you!

Best For: French Press, Cold Brew

Espresso (Ground)

Ideal if you have an espresso machine but not recommended! If you are looking for espresso fine coffee, please take note that we recommend you purchase an espresso grinder and do not recommend purchasing coffee ground for espresso from us. Although we will do it, calibration is key to a perfect shot of 'spro. There are over 20 options in espresso finely ground coffee and we'll grind based on what works best on our espresso machine for the day.

Best For: Espresso
