Stories from the Farm: Life at Finca T Week 5

Life at Finca T Becomes Familiar as Visitors Arrive

This week at Finca T marked the moment when life on the farm began to feel familiar. The rhythm of daily routines—early mornings, simple meals of eggs and beans, and the slower pace—has become second nature. The simplicity of farm life has brought clarity, energy, and healthier eating habits, even if it means missing occasional takeout.

A New Set of Wheels

The team welcomed a new vehicle, affectionately called “The Beast.” Designed for the unpaved and bumpy roads surrounding the farm, it provides reliable transportation for errands and travel beyond walking distance. Driving in Corquín presents its own challenges, as traffic rules are mostly unposted. Stop signs, one-way streets, and yields are understood by locals, making every trip an adventure full of humor and learning.

Visiting Familiar Faces

Brian, a key member of the Alma team handling green coffee sales, spent an extended period at Finca T along with his wife, Claire. Claire, a professional photographer, captured stunning images that highlight the day-to-day life on the farm. Together with Harry and Marcial, they visited partner producers in Belén Gualcho, San Sebastián, and Agua Fría. The group toured multiple farms, met local farmers, and were welcomed into their homes for traditional meals. The freshness and quality of local produce, especially cilantro and lettuce, left a lasting impression.

Max’s wife, Nikki, also joined the team for her first trip to Honduras. Their visit included a tour of the Mayan Ruins in Copán, a local bird sanctuary, and a full Finca T experience, including the famous waterfall hike. Stories from the hike included chest-high water, slippery rocks, a lost machete, plenty of laughter, and breathtaking views.

Hosting Visiting Roasters

Finca T welcomed three visiting roasters this week, partners who purchase green coffee to roast under their own brands in the U.S. These visits are designed to show the full journey of coffee—from the farm to processing and export. A single day during a roaster visit includes sunrise walks, school visits, wet mill tours, coffee picking, and time with animals, concluding with dinner, Q&A, and evening stories on the porch. These visits connect every sip of coffee to the people and communities behind it, making the work profoundly rewarding.

Wrapping Up the Week

Although there were few opportunities for photos during this busy week, snapshots from the camera roll provide glimpses of daily life at the farm. As visitors packed up and headed home, the team had just one day to rest before welcoming the next group. Week 6 promises to be another unforgettable chapter at Finca T.
