5 Coffee Trends Happening in 2025
Share
2025 has officially arrived, and with it new coffee trends are emerging. From sustainably and ethically sourced coffee to innovating and unique brewing methods, here are a few of our predictions on what you can expect from coffee in 2025:
1. Sustainably and Ethically Sourced Coffee
Something that we here at Alma Coffee pride ourselves on is the fact that we are involved in every step of the process when it comes to our coffee. From harvesting the coffee all the way to brewing it in the café, coffee grown on our family farms never leaves our hands. You can sleep easy at night knowing your coffee has been ethically grown, harvested, and processed.
Along with never losing sight of our coffee, sustainability has been one of our main pursuits from the get-go. In all that we do both on the farm and at the roastery in Holly Springs, we strive towards sustainability. Here are a few ways that we go above and beyond with our sustainable practices:
- Shade Grown Coffee
- Coffee Husk Composting
- Chemical-Free Soil Management
- Wet-Washing Without Much Water
- Industrial Grade Drying without the Pollution
To learn more about how we are constantly looking for new ways to better protect and preserve the environment, read our blog How Alma is Investing in our Planet.
2. Decaf Coffee
Decaf coffee is a rather divisive conversation these days. We err on the side of belief that decaf coffee allows those who can’t have caffeine the excitement of a warm cup of joe without the jitters. Decaf coffee is perfect for those looking to limit their coffee consumption but also need their bean juice to get their day going. We have two options for those looking to get their decaf on in 2025: Dreamer and Slumber.
3. Coffee Cocktails
Some of you may be currently participating in Dry January (you’re almost there!!!), but for those of you who aren’t, here are a few coffee cocktails recipes that we are obsessed with:
Espresso Martini from The Kitchn
- 1 ounce espresso or cold brew coffee (we recommend Enchanted)
- 2 ounces Vodka
- 1 ounce Reformation Coffee Liqueur
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- Ice
Cold Brew Negroni from Food52
- 1 ounce Reformation Gin
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 1/2 ounces cold brew coffee (we recommend Frio)
- 1 1/2 ounces Vermouth
- 1 orange peel, to garnish
Dirty Chai Cocktail from Life Currents
- 1 cup Rishi Tea chai concentrate
- 1 cup milk of your choice
- 1 1/2 ounces of espresso (we recommend using our Essence roast)
- 1 1/2 ounces Reformation Bourbon
- 1 1/2 ounces mocha Kahlua
4. Purchasing Direct Trade Coffee
When we began Alma Coffee back in 2018, we started with the mission of bringing Direct Trade coffee’s positive impact on the coffee industry to light. From the get-go, we wanted to create a space that highlighted and bolstered the work of the farmers on our family farms in Honduras. The work that they do is what helps us consistently create extraordinary coffee for you to enjoy both in-store and at-home.
Why is direct trade important? By sourcing our coffee directly from our farms, we are able to completely bypass the middleman. We are involved in every step of the process, from harvesting all the way to packaging each bag of coffee. Not only is this great for you, but it also allows for complete transparency between the farmers and us as roasters. We can control the quality of the bean while also ensuring that farmers receive fair and equitable pay for their work. Fair wages for farmers is a massive issue within the coffee industry. We are proud to be a company that supports and appreciates our farmers in the way that they deserve. To learn more, read our blog about the updates we have made and are continuing to make on the farm to enhance their day-to-day lives. By supporting our mission of Direct Trade coffee, you are helping us change lives one cup at a time.
5. Coffee Innovation
People are tired of the same-old, same-old. We want innovative and creative ways to drink our coffee. That’s where Alma comes in! With every new menu we release in the café, we always try to include a drink that goes outside the box. Currently, on our Winter Menu we have the Italian Soda that includes cold brew, club soda, your syrup of choice, half and half, and then is topped with whipped cream. Stay tuned for what crazy innovative drink we have next!
For those shopping online, our coffee alone is innovative in that it is fully farm-to-cup. That is what truly sets our coffee apart. We are involved in every step of the process, and we believe that is what makes our coffee so extraordinary.
For all my coffee connoisseurs out there, buckle up because 2025 is about to take us on a wild ride. Innovation is the new standard when it comes to coffee, and we are eager to see new techniques emerge! As the coffee industry changes, you can remain confident in a consistently extraordinary brew from Alma Coffee. Brewing methods and recipes may be revamped, but our extraordinary coffee will always remain.
