"Invierno" (which translates to 'winter' in Spanish) is a limited seasonal roast crafted to exude the bold and dark cup of coffee you would envision on a cold winter morning.
The Alma team has endearingly started calling this roast the ultimate processing trio. Although this coffee remains a single origin offering from Alma Family Farms, it is a unique pre roast blend made up of a honey process, natural (dry) process, and wet wash coffees.
With the coolness of winter amongst us, we wanted this cup to be warm, inviting, and rich in nature. The tricky part with this coffee was it's inclusion of the natural (dry) process that typically shines through when roasted in a bright or light roast. We didn't shy away from keeping natural as a component in this coffee though because we wanted this dark roast to differ from Enchanted and Essence and for it to have some complex fruity/floral notes to it. The natural did just that! A handful of renditions, cuppings, and company wide tasting later; we had our perfect Invierno roast!
The label design (hand drawn by our very own Paula Krassa) illustrates the real-time seasonal winter/harvest season changes happening to our family coffee trees in Honduras: the perfect visual representation of the different shades of mature red coffee cherries ready for picking during this time at our family farms!
