Coffee Description

Belen Gualcho is actually a small village in the Ocotepeque department of Honduras. With a population of about 16K people, the village is a true jewel located in the middle of the Honduran mountains. We came across this delicious coffee when Jesus Mata, a local coffee farmer, heard about our family farm, Finca Terrerito. Jesus was interested in our commitment to treating farmers fairly and focusing on helping the communities we partner with. On top of this, Jesus went out on a limb and made the journey to Finca T to introduce himself and his coffee. After a cupping that blew our farm team away, our farm director made the trip to Belen to see their operations first hand and verify if they used sustainable practices. Thanks to Jesus, we purchased this delicious coffee from a group of 7 farmers (including Jesus) that have on average 1 to 2 acres each. You can read more about the amazing story behind our Belen Gualcho roast in our weekly Alma-nac Blog!

A lighter roast on this coffee emphasizes its green grape acidity that is balanced by the tastiness of graham cracker and the sweetness of malt chocolate.
