Alma Coffee Goes to CoffeeFest 2023
At the beginning of August, Alma Co-owners Harry and Leticia, along with Alma’s Lead Roaster, Cody, loaded up and headed out west to Anaheim, California to attend CoffeeFest. During their time in California, they were able to experience new ways of roasting, brewing, and serving coffee as well as build relationships with fellow coffee aficionados around the country.
What is CoffeeFest?
CoffeeFest is a gathering of coffee fanatics all across the country. The event is a weekend full of new and interesting techniques for taking your coffee to the next level. At Alma, we are always looking for ways to make our coffee even better and minimize our carbon footprint. More than this, CoffeeFest is a great way for us to meet and connect with fellow coffee roasters. Networking in the coffee business is way more important than the average joe may think. Creating those connections with other roasters and learning from them is really important for innovation here at our roastery. Through the coffee events that we travel to, we have learned so many new tips and tricks that have become staple techniques in our own cafe. At CoffeeFest they had lessons on everything from how to perfect roasting your coffee to how to strategically build your coffee business.
The Great Coffee Hunt
Everyone knows that you can’t got to California without seeing the Hollywood sign! Being the rule followers that we are, we promptly went to see to see the Hollywood sign upon making it to California. We also went on an expedition to find the best coffee in Anaheim. Here’s a few of the favorite shops we visited in our time there:
After our coffee shop ventures we were ready to hit the boardwalk. We spent some time walking up and down the boardwalk, taking in all the beautiful beach views. There was so much to see, and so little time to see it all. After our Cali expeditions, we were ready to head on over to CoffeeFest 2023 to learn more about the most recent innovations in coffee and the coffee business.

California is such a magical place, but we found ourselves missing our community here in Cherokee county during our travels… there really is no place like home. During our time at CoffeeFest 2023 we learned so much about all the upcoming trends and newest techniques for roasting and brewing coffee. We came home with a newfound passion for creating even more extraordinary coffee. After learning so much at CoffeeFest, we can't wait to put some of our new knowledge into practice. We're excited to experiment with new techniques and see how they can improve the quality of our coffee. And of course, we're already looking forward to attending the next CoffeeFest and continuing to connect with fellow coffee enthusiasts.

So-Cal transplant here – This is so exciting! One of my favorite roasters out there was Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders. Verve was pretty bomb too. Glad you were able to check out some of the offerings from the west coast!
Moving here from CA two years ago, I’m glad I found you. My favorite roaster was in Rancho Cucamonga – Klatch Coffee. Very similar to your natural roasts with lots of fruit and berry notes.
